Life Without Desire

Back from the morning clinic.  I have my lunch and the TV for company.  Urma Thurman (Elsa) , Paddy Considine (Paul )and Jonathan Pryce(Victor Quinn) in My Zinc Bed.  It is  a play adaptation about a brilliant writer (Paul)  who happens to be a recovering alcoholic.  Paul fell in love with his rich Boss' wife (Elsa).  It was boggling for Paul the patience and generosity displayed by his Boss (Victor), but later found out that Elsa too, used to be an alcoholic.

"If you are truly cured then you would have no desire....but who wants to go on in life without desire?"

The writer, once sober cannot go on writing.  Elsa, though socially transformed by the love and trust of Victor, remained craving and longing for the "kick" of an alcoholic high. Neither Paul nor Elsa could dissociate from emotions and desire....unfortunately, "passion" seems to find freedom and expression with a sip of alcohol. 


...perhaps no one really would want to be cured if it comes at a very high price of being "stoned".  We all crave for desire. I know I do.

TV Soap Inspired

'twas a very slow Saturday.....had to wait for a good show on TV just to perk up my night.  After dinner, Julia and Julie was up in HBO. Just like my day, it was slow and a bit of over crowded with words.  But I have always loved Merryl Streep and even for just this reason I remained on the couch and watched it til the last frame.

oh well....watching it was not really a waste of time.  It inspired me to start "blogging".  My 2nd son, Jason, told me how and why people blog.  Yeah sure, why not..... For Julia, Julie and Jason! Officially, my very first blog.
